Testing Proxies
How to Test Proxies
There are different methods you can use when testing proxies.
The best way to test if a proxy works is to get to a valid decline on an in-stock product using fake card info. This is because some proxies can sometimes access a site fine, but can potentially be banned from carting and going to checkout.
In most cases, you won’t experience this type of a ban if you are using good proxies such as ISP DC or residential proxies. For some sites, you can simply just see if the proxy can access the site and not be banned from accessing it.
When testing proxies, the few things you’ll want to make note of are:
Ping
Banned from accessing the site
Banned from carting or going to checkout
A few methods to test proxies include:
Using a bot’s proxy tester and running a test task.
Use a proxy testing program.
Manually using a proxy extension in chrome
Note: If you are using an automatic proxy tester to determine ping, make sure you know how the tester is determining those results - is it fully loading the page, or is it simply pinging the website to make speeds look faster than they really are (FOGLDN for example).
In most cases, using your bot’s proxy tester or a program like Red Dirt proxy tester are enough to let you know if proxies are banned or not on a website. I don’t really recommend testing more than one proxy manually as it’s very time consuming, however, if you want to see what happens with the proxy, you can.
Manually Testing
1) Download a Chrome extension such as Proxy SwitchyOmega that allows you to change the IP your Chrome Browser is accessing the internet from. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/proxy-switchyomega/padekgcemlokbadohgkifijomclgjgif?hl=en
2) Input your proxy into the extension of your choice once it has been downloaded. Refer to Proxy Formats and Authentication section for how to find this information.
3) Go to the website you want to test proxies on. In this example, Yeezy Supply will be used.
4) If you can load the home page of a website, then the proxy is not banned from accessing the site.
5) If you want to test if the proxy can cart and go to checkout, add an in-stock item to your cart.
If you are able to cart, proceed to checkout and go through the checkout stages. See if you can reach a valid decline with that proxy. For a test card, you can simply use a number like;4242 4242 4242 4242. You can find other test cards at either PayPay's test card site or this alternative site.
Alternatively, you can use a Privacy card with a $1 limit and see if you reach a decline that way (excluding Supreme)
6) You can follow this manual method for any site you’d like to test proxies on.
Using a Bot's Proxy Tester and Running a Test Task
1. For this example, Cyber will be used on Supreme US. The same methodology can be followed for any bot and website.
2. To determine the pings of proxies from the pc running Cyber to Supreme, head to the Proxies tab. Input your proxies into the bot. Once proxies have been loaded in, select the Supreme option in the bottom of the bot.
3. Take a note of the pings shown. These numbers will vary depending on the type of proxy, location of server/pc and distance between server, proxy and site. Refer to the Site Recommendations section for what I think are ideal pings to be around.
4. If you want to test if the proxy can cart and go to checkout, first create a test profile in your bot. You can set the address to anything, but preferably use a valid test card, such as 4242 4242 4242 4242. You can find other test cards at either PayPay's test card site or this alternative site.
Alternatively, you can use a Privacy card with a $1 limit and see if you reach a decline that way (excluding Supreme).
5. Create a task on Supreme using the test profile and proxies to test. You can test on an item such as this one: https://us.supreme.com/products/cch9cq6aho5lbwj
Note: Some bot devs will lock certain task modules for certain sites. If this is the case, you will have to settle for just pinging the site with your proxies using the in-bot proxy tester.
A lot of proxy companies now lock their proxies outside of drops to prevent abuse and flagging them. If your proxy provider locks proxies, then you won't be able to test generally outside of drops, although you may be able to test for bans still in some cases by seeing if they return HTTP 403 Forbidden errors in bot or manually checking.
6. Run the task and see if you can reach a valid decline using it. If you can, the proxy is fine.
7. Repeat this method for any site you’d like to test proxies on.
