2. When you create your new card, you will have the option to give it a nickname and a spend limit on it. You can either set it to no limit, add a spend limit per transaction or a total charge, or even set it to be destroyed automatically after a single charge. Click create card once finished.

3. The card is now ready for use. Your card details will show up for you to copy.

Managing Existing Privacy Cards

1. To view cards you’ve already created through Privacy, simply click the following link https://privacy.com/cardsarrow-up-right.

2. In the Open Cards tab that opens up, you will see your open cards as shown below.

3. To close a card, view transaction history, or to edit the spend limit on an existing card, simply click the Privacy card you wish to modify. You can also view previously declined transactions on the card by selecting show declines on the top right.

4. In the Closed Cards tab, you will be able to see cards that have been closed already. Note that you will not be able to reopen a card once it has been closed.

Merchant Locks

Privacy cards can be used on any supported site. However, once a card is used for one merchant, that card is forever tied to that merchant and cannot be used elsewhere. For example, if you make a purchase on the card at Nike, you will not be able to use it at Foot Locker.

Privacy cards can be shared initially on Foot Locker and any Footsite using Adyen for payment processor, which are only Foot Action, Champs and Kids Foot Locker for now. You cannot use the card at Foot Locker, and then use it on East Bay afterwards. You will need a separate card for those two sites specifically, unless you remove the merchant lock for those two sites as shown below.

Removing Merchant Locks for A Specific Merchant

If you use a card that is already merchant locked to a store, try using that locked card on another site. You will get declined because it is merchant locked. Make sure you have email notifications enabled for the card that is going to be declined.

Check the decline email and see if a prompt as shown below in the picture says

“Allow this merchant through in future transactions.”

Click on that prompt to open up a link that will take you to the url https://privacy.com/oneclick/successarrow-up-right. You will see the following message appear:

This card will no longer be declined on the merchant you unlocked the card for.

I tested this on all Footsites. Before removing the merchant lock, I was only able to share a Privacy card on Footlocker and any site using Adyen for payment method (Kids Foot Locker and Footaction).

Once I attempted to purchase something on Champs and East Bay, I received an email saying that my transaction was declined because that card is already in use at FOOTLOCKER. Once I clicked the link that allows the merchant to go through in future transactions, the card worked fine for successful purchases on those two sites.

Card Creation Limit

The number of cards you can generate per month can be viewed here https://privacy.com/pricingarrow-up-right. Each plan comes with different pricing and benefits including more cards and cash back rewards for higher tiers.

  • Free Plan - Create up to 12 cards a month

  • Pro Plan ($10/month) - Create up to 36 cards per month, 1% cashback on purchases

  • Teams Plan ($25/month) - Create up to 60 cards per month

The free plan can only create 12 cards a month, so if you think you’d like to create more, considering paying for the pro plan to create 36 cards a month and for 1% cashback on purchases. Teams are meant for businesses. You must have a registered business in order to apply for it.

Viewing Daily and Monthly Spend Limits

One of the drawbacks of Privacy is that it does enforce a separate daily and monthly spend limit. You can view these limits on the homepage of privacy at https://privacy.com/homearrow-up-right. Simply hover over the daily and monthly spend limits to view them.

The best method of getting a higher daily and monthly spend limits is a combination of the following:

  1. An established history (at least 1-2 consecutive months of consistent spending)

  2. Recurring transactions such as weekly/monthly subscriptions to online services

  3. Regularly maxed out their daily and monthly limits during this time to show the need for more spending.

Note that paying for a monthly privacy plan does not increase spend limits.

Once you think you’ve used Privacy enough times to get a spend limit increase, simply send an email to Privacy at support@privacy.comenvelope and request a spend limit increase. Remember to be as detailed as possible, and include reasoning why you think you should receive an increase based on the requirements above.
